Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports

Kings Canyon Online follows the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) philosophy. While online education comes with unique challenges—especially when it comes to student motivation—KCO remains committed to strengthening support systems across all three tiers of student need.

Throughout the year, students have shared feedback on the types of rewards and incentives that would motivate them for strong academic performance and consistent attendance. In response, staff members have been developing clear behavioral goals to help students work toward these incentives. As the world continues to change, KCO remains focused on evolving our approach to keep students engaged and motivated.

Kings Canyon Online has chosen PRIDE as their Behavioral Expectations:

P - Perseverance

R - Respect

 I - Integrity

D - Drive

E - Excellence

At Kings Canyon Online (KCO), clear behavior expectations are established for all learning environments—whether on a school campus or at off-site locations. These expectations are outlined in our PRIDE matrix, which serves as a guide for the behaviors we aim to practice and embody as both staff and students.

Alongside the PRIDE framework, KCO staff and administration utilize a Response to Intervention (RTI) model to address the academic and behavioral needs of students across Tiers I, II, and III. This approach ensures a consistent, structured response to support all students effectively.
